Early in his career, the Hudson River School painter Thomas Moran steeped himself in British mezzotint engraving. He acquired both Richard Earlom’s Liber Veritatis reproductions after Claude Lorrain and J. M. W. Turner’s Liber Studiorum and pored over them.
