Bij een tent in een legerkamp doet Judith het zojuist afgehakte hoofd van Holofernes in een tas, die haar dienstmaagd voor haar openhoudt. In de tent is op bed nog het onthoofde lichaam te zien. Op de achtergrond strijdende soldaten bij een burcht.

Israhel van Meckenem (c. 1445–1503), also known as Israhel van Meckenem the Younger, was a pioneering German engraver and goldsmith based in Bocholt, near the Dutch border, renowned as the most prolific printmaker of the fifteenth century.
