Van oudsher was ivoor een geliefd materiaal voor luxe voorwerpen. Het werd niet alleen in het Verre Oosten, maar ook in Europa gesneden. De parasol haakt in op de eigentijdse voorliefde voor het naturalisme met een knop van realistisch gesneden lelietjes van dalen. De bolvormige punt is gevat in grote bladeren van lelietjes.
