This delicate porcelain vase, titled *Vaas met eenden in een waterplas en landschapje*, was produced around 1784 by the Manufacture Oud-Loosdrecht, one of the Netherlands’ earliest porcelain factories. Standing just 18 centimeters tall, the piece reflects the refined taste of late eighteenth-century European decorative arts. The factory, established in 1774 near Amsterdam, specialized in hard-paste porcelain that sought to rival the celebrated wares of Meissen and Sèvres while incorporating distinctly Dutch motifs. The vase’s painted decoration features a tranquil scene of ducks gliding across a pond, framed by a softly rendered landscape. Such pastoral subjects were popular in Dutch porcelain, blending the influence of Chinese export wares with local landscape traditions. Subtle brushwork and delicate coloring highlight the technical skill of the Oud-Loosdrecht painters, who often drew inspiration from contemporary prints and nature studies.
