Between Silence & Becoming: Gesture, Memory and Inner Landscapes is a virtual solo exhibition presenting twenty-seven works by Pakistani visual artist and art historian Irum Malik. Developed through painting, ink and mixed media, the exhibition explores states of transition between stillness and movement, memory and presence, containment and release. Circular forms, calligraphic gestures, fragments, layered surfaces and recurring thresholds move throughout the works as visual traces of inward experience. Rather than constructing fixed narratives, the paintings invite slow looking, allowing form, colour and material gesture to become spaces for contemplation. The exhibition unfolds through four interconnected movements—Orbits of Silence, Memory & Trace, Passage & Shelter, and Becoming & Inner Architecture—revealing a continuing dialogue between abstraction, emotional memory and transformation. Conceived as an artist-led virtual exhibition, Between Silence & Becoming allows audiences, curators, researchers and collectors to encounter the works internationally through a digital gallery environment.

A dense black form turns inward like a living orbit, circling a still centre where a single crimson point holds the eye in suspension. Around it, restless lines and warm traces of gold and red suggest movement, memory, and emergence. The work gathers intensity and silence into one field, balancing gravity with pulse, control with release. Recommended framing: slim black frame with archival white mat.
A quiet flowering emerges through translucent blues, rose tones and drifting black lines, where gesture becomes memory and form remains delicately unresolved. At its centre, a luminous floral motif anchors the composition, balancing fragility with poise and inviting the eye into a contemplative rhythm of movement, pause and renewal. Recommended framing: slim black frame with archival white mat.
A dark orbit gathers around a field of stillness, while a single crimson pulse interrupts the quiet with presence and feeling. The work balances emptiness and intensity, turning minimal gesture into a meditation on silence, tension, and inner gravity. Recommended framing: slim black frame with archival white mat.
