Art Historical Context
Bartolomeo Pinelli (1781–1835 an Italian artist working in the early nineteenth century, created this drawing titled *Return From The Vintage* in 1807–08. The title evokes a scene of people coming back from the grape harvest, a longstanding rural tradition in Italy that mixed hard work with community celebration. Produced when Pinelli was still a young artist, the work belongs to the drawing medium, which artists of the period used to record observed life with directness and vitality.
